hi!

i love to eat and travel and document as much of it as i can.

dunsmoor, glassell park.

february 2023

dunsmoor is in the glassell park neighborhood, which happens to be just south of us. while there are a couple spots we frequent in for coffee or brunch, this really wasn’t an area to get dinner and we more often than not simply drove through glassell park on our way to eagle rock or highland park.

the hearth.

but! we loved hatchet hall in culver city for it’s southern-focused menu when chef dunsmoor was there, so we knew the food would be great here too. we snagged two seats at the bar and got to watch much of the food being prepared on their open hearth and wood-fired oven.

raw oysters, lemon.

bison tartare, sunchoke, smoked trout sauce, mint, mullet roe.

wood-fired oven.

edna’s sour milk cornbread, white cheddar, hatch chili, cultured butter, honey.

dressed lettuces.

aunt emmy’s pork & green chili stew, cheddar, flour tortillas.

the cornbread is a must-order, but i still think about that chili stew months later. the menu has a good balance of lighter, fresh/raw-er fare to balance out all that heavier comfort food, so we walked out full and happy.

pennsylvania dutch slippery dumplings, chicken, ham, pickled beets, eggs.

apple cobbler.
