snapshots from the faroe islands.
april 2022
okay! let’s get back to 2022 and our scandinavia trip! after helsinki and copenhagen, we made our way to the faroe islands. it started off a little crazy.. land, rent a car, drive immediately to do a ferry tour (it was the only day available our whole trip) which was very bumpy/choppy, cold and rainy. but it was a helluva beautiful introduction to the islands.
we stayed in the capital and main city of the faroe islands, torshavn. there is a super cute little harbor with colorful buildings, boats and a lighthouse on an old fort.
we spent two days driving around seeing as much as we could. it reminded us a lot of iceland in some ways, while still being unique and awe-inspiring. the vistas and viewpoints along the way to see other beautiful spots were epic in and of themselves.
due to the limited amount of time we had, we stuck to the neighboring islands of streymoy (where torshavn is) and vagar (where the airport is).
we also hiked to see the spectacular cliffs at traelanipa.
there were sheep everywhere, so we had to be very careful when driving.
we technically had one more day meant for exploring, but weather in the faroes is fickle and our last day was white-out snow pretty much the entire day so we decided to just chill and treat ourselves to some spa treatments at the hotel.
