a rainy afternoon in echo park.
Ostrich Farm
this past saturday was a rainy one, which is pretty rare in this city. we had no plans, so after sleeping in i was looking forward to something new and tasty, and everything i'd read about newly opened ostrich farm fit the bill. we were not disappointed!
we started with the tangerine mimosas, and james had the smashed avocado tartine (with lemon and chili flake on wheat) while i had the smoked salmon tartine (with pickled onion, watercress and cream cheese on rye). and of course, a side of bacon. and cinnamon buns.
as good as the tartines were, the housemade brioche cinnamon buns were freaking amazing. seriously, if i were on death row, these would be my last meal request, and i'm pretty sure i could use them to bribe someone to let me go. i'd probably still eat them....

Woodcat Coffee
after brunch, we headed across the street to woodcat coffee for a quick cortado and latte. it's a cute and cozy space serving wrecking ball coffee roasters from san francisco.
i really enjoyed the rustic and eclectic space with all its natural light. definitely the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee while waiting out the rain.
