a shiny new coffee bar at grand central market.
when g&b first opened at grand central market, they always said they were eventually going to tear down the existing stall and create a full 360 degree bar. it went under construction a few weeks ago and this morning was their first day of service! and boy, is it pretty. clean white lines, marble countertops all the way around, their signature purple dash adorning the columns, and lots of standing room and sitting options. they even have a shiny new neon sign!
their merchandise displays now drop down from the ceiling, above all the action. clever and good looking! without further ado, here are the three other sides of the shiny new bar space, moving counter clock-wise from the street, encouraging you to order anywhere.

i absolutely love these guys and the amazing work that they do. i still remember when they were just a pop-up inside of sqirl, and you could tell from their passion for great coffee and more importantly, great service, that they were going to big things in this town. i couldn't be happier for them and their success, and i can't wait to see what they do next (invading los feliz, i believe).
it was a happy accident that this morning was their opening day, as i happened to have to report for jury duty starting today. i had my usual cappuccino, as well as a delicious waffle topped with ricotta, jam and honey. i was selected for a jury, so i'll be in downtown all week long. luckily, the courthouse is only a couple blocks from grand central market, so i'll be eating well (and taking pictures and notes!) to share with you once my civic duty is complete.
