holbox is a mexican seafood counter inside mercado la paloma that’s been on my go-to list for years now. truly there isn’t much in this world we both love more than mexican seafood. there was quite a long line, but we were able to snag a seat at the counter. otherwise, it seems like you can sit anywhere in the market after ordering as it’s essentially a big food court.

we stuck with a lot of the smaller dishes so we could try more things with just the two of us, but they have entrees as well that looked delicious.
tostada de kanpachi + uni.
shrimp aguachile, crispy heads, avocado.
everything was so, so good, but the shrimp aguachile (especially with the deep-fried heads) was the standout for me.
baja fish taco: local rockfish, crema, mayo, salsa roja, cabbage, pico.

smoked kanpachi taco: house smoked baja kanpachi, local queso oaxaca, salsa cruda, avocado & peanut salsa macha.
after many years of accolades and being a michelin bib gourmand, they received a michelin star this year! i believe they are the first marisqueria to earn a star in the US - how cool is that?
