hi!

i love to eat and travel and document as much of it as i can.

after hearing much about it and seeing all the beautiful photos of the interior on instagram, we finally dined at commissary at the line hotel in koreatown. the greenhouse space is so dreamy, with hanging plants spilling their foliage all around and above the diners.

to drink, i ordered the blood orange spritz and james had the tangerine (rye, lemon, mint). i appreciated the use of fresh blood orange, but james was a bit off put by the plastic container his drink came in (though, he did appreciate its volume!). the first two dishes to arrive were the deviled eggs with whole grain mustard aioli and shaved artichoke with fresnos, lemon and parmesan. both were simple and full of flavor.

green curry mussels with parmesan and foccacia and the burger with wagyu, pork, bacon and tomato jam were super flavor- and umami-packed - comforting and filling without being heavy.

next up we had grilled melon with fresnos, mint, honey and lemon oil, and added on a side of prosciutto (not pictured). i've been a huge fan of melon with prosciutto since the first time i had it in my teenage years, but i'd never had it with the melon grilled and seasoned before. while tasty, i'm not convinced it's better than plain ol' fresh melon.

for dessert we had the pomegranate panna cotta with goat cheese, pistachio honey bits and sesame puff. this was one of the least sweet panna cottas i've ever had and i loved it. the acidic, almost vinegar-y pomegranate reduction cut through the creaminess really well.

i really enjoyed the simplicity of the food here, can't wait to go back!
