snapshots from stockholm, sweden.
april 2022
of course we didn’t just check out the subway stations in stockholm. we spent a snowy afternoon walking around gamla stan or stockholm’s old city (it’s actually an island in the middle of the city!). the weather, while cold and a little wet, made for for a visually dreamy excursion of colorful buildings and palaces through cute alleyways and courtyards.
we stayed at hobo hotel, which was very centrally located, and a short walk across a river from gamla stan. most of my other shots were just from walking around on our way to or from different spots.
we also visited a couple museums while in the city. the first was fotografiska, a (mostly) photography museum. there was an eclectic set of galleries, including a very interesting set of photos taken by andy warhol. it’s also right on the water and offers some great views of other parts of the city from their restaurant.
the other museum we went to was vasamuseet, or vasa museum. it’s an entire museum dedicated to a swedish warship that was built in the 1600s but sank before it could even leave the harbor. it was rediscovered/salvaged in the 1950s and 60s and the entire museum is built around the reconstruction of the massive thing. there were exhibits about every part of the history, building process, and even some of the folks who died with the ship. it was absolutely fascinating and a must-see.
as usual, now that i’ve shown you a bit of the city, the next posts will be about the food. :heart emoji:
