hi!

i love to eat and travel and document as much of it as i can.

if you haven't seen my last post about our wildlife safari in yellowstone and grand teton national parks, you should go check it out! we flew into jackson hole airport but only had a half day before and half day after the safari to spend in town.

glorietta.

after checking into our hotel, we ventured to the on-site restaurant glorietta, which was super cute. their handmade pastas filled our bellies and the friendly service made us feel welcome. besides, anyone who is going to put uni, bottarga and butter in the same dish has my vote. SO. GOOD.

heirloom tomato, burrata, hearts of palm, basil, red wine vinaigrette.

fettucini, uni, butter, duck yolk, bottarga, parsley, lemon.

gnocchi, brown butter corn sauce, dill, lemon, parmesan.

we stayed at the anvil hotel, which had the sweetest details and one of the most comfortable beds i've ever slept in.

the lobby is part front desk, part general store and part cafe, and even has a working fireplace.

we got up bright and early to try and grab a cup of coffee before we got picked up for our safari. little did we know, that day was the annual elkfest! there were so many antlers, horns and skulls from all different animals and quite a sight.

elkfest!

after we got back from our three day adventure, we were craving texmex and sleep (you have to be up before sunrise if you want to see some of the more elusive animals!). luckily for us, merry piglets serves big, tasty margaritas and big, tasty plates.

twisted cowgirl dip: queso mixed with ground beef and topped with guacamole & pico de gallo.

street tacos: grilled steak and al pastor.

the town square at dusk.

bears everywhere.

after dinner we were full and sleepy, but we walked around a little bit longer, and stopped into the million dollar cowboy bar for a beer. inside we found live music, knobby pine everywhere, saddles as barstools and even taxidermy displays. definitely worth a visit just to see it (but there is a cover fee).

we already can't wait to come back in the winter to take advantage of the slopes and explore jackson more!

bye, jackson! you're pretty.
