our last wine tasting stop in the cape winelands was supposed to be at the gorgeous babylonstoren estate, where we also had dinner reservations at babel. however, as i mentioned at the end of my first post, after 4 tastings and a big lunch, we were very not-sober and exhausted and decided to head back to our lodge and rest.

turkeys, chillin’.

it was getting dark by the time we finally made our way to babylonstoren, so we really didn’t get to see much at all. there is still a pleasant walk between the drop off / parking lot and the restaurant (though a little disorienting at night).

courtyard seating.

bread & butter.

figs, cheese.

everything on the menu was very focused on the sourcing of ingredients. most ingredients are sourced from and processed on the property itself. someone walked by semi-regularly offering freshly picked fruit from a basket.

beer; aperitif.

west coast oysters.

persimmons.

winter greens, tomato pesto, pomegranate.

we kept it super easy and just shared a couple light plates and small bites. everything was really simple, fresh, ingredient-focused, and delicious. it was very cozy and the perfect end to a wonderful but long day in the winelands.
