after seoul, we headed south to busan. in fact, we took the train to busan , because that was james’s only request of this entire trip (he loves zombie movies, but even i will admit that train to busan is a fantastic film).
gamcheon was historically one of the poorest parts of busan until a public works project in the 2000s brought in artists to create public art. now this whole hillside village is colorful and quirky, and filled with art and tourists.

after walking for awhile and getting past the busiest parts of the village, we stumbled upon several small art galleries, which we basically had to ourselves. it is definitely worth walking past the first, very busy stretch of the village and exploring more. there are a lot of hills, stairs, and narrow, winding, and uneven paths though, so it’s not for everyone.
