hi!

i love to eat and travel and document as much of it as i can.

st. john, london.

our last night in london also happened to be my birthday. st. john is known for “nose-to-tail” eating, which means lots of offals and off-cuts and i was really excited for it. the restaurant itself feels casual yet austere, and i’ll admit to being a bit intimidated by the very matter-of-fact service, but once we figured out what we were doing we had a lovely time.

nettle soup & snails.

cold roast ox liver, pickled prune, horseradish.

everything was delicious, hearty and comforting. i was surprised by how much i enjoyed the cold ox liver (even for me, cold liver doesn’t necessarily sound appetizing), and the bone marrow is their most famous dish for good reason, but the grilled ox heart was my favorite dish of the night.

grilled ox heart, carrots and aioli.

braised hereford tail, red wine and mash.

bitter chocolate cream.
