alexander's steakhouse in pasadena.
my family has always like going to steakhouses for a nicer dinner or special occasion. there are several we usually frequent, but we were looking to try something new and reserved a table at alexander's steakhouse in pasadena.
i admit to being pleasantly surprised. it's somewhere between a very classic steakhouse with very high quality steaks served without flourish, a very foodie-centric, trendy restaurant, and new fine dining serving those extra complimentary courses (amuse bouche, palate cleanser, desserts). everything was really, really good though, and the service was impeccable.
all the steaks are served simply, without sides, but they have some really tasty add-ons or "enhancements" like bone marrow and foie gras. i also really appreciated the sides they offer - no creamed spinach or corn here! both the green beans and mushrooms were really good and held their own.
after dessert, we even got extra petit fours, macarons and cotton candy! definitely a fun way to end the evening.
